Ascom enhances integration with Epic Rover

The new functionality – which is now live on all Myco 4 Slim smartphones – enables clinicians to use the device camera to scan barcodes, such as those found on medication, laboratory results, blood products and patient wristbands, to access, verify and record health information within the Epic Rover app.

The app can be accessed at the point of care or on the go - helping to improve workflows, better connect clinicians to patient information and reduce the likelihood of clinical and medication errors.

Globally, more than 325 million patients receive care at healthcare organizations using Epic.

This latest integration marks another advancement in the 7+ years Ascom has developed solutions that work with Epic, removing the need – and cost – for third-party licences or further software or hardware, such as a separate barcode scanner. Offering a total handheld solution.

Additional benefits include:   

• Precision viewfinder: Users can select one barcode out of many using the viewfinder defined by crosshair, square of line markings.
• Two-step scan accuracy: Users can aim and then scan by two separate key presses – ensuring the barcode is scanned accurately first time.
• Improved ergonomics and performance: Users can operate the barcode scanning function using physical buttons on either side of the Myco 4 Slim smartphone.
